Nana Owusu Aduomi Sekyere Achiaw Baako, widely known in Ghana’s entertainment and creative industry as Nana Baako or Nana 1, is a Ghanaian creative entrepreneur, medical professional, media strategist, photographer, visual storyteller and youth focused visionary from Asante Mampong in the Ashanti Region of Ghana.
Professionally trained as a medical professional, Nana 1 has developed a multidisciplinary career defined by professionalism, discipline, creativity, leadership and service. While maintaining his professional foundation in healthcare, he has simultaneously built a distinctive presence within Ghana’s creative and media landscape, particularly through photography, cinematography, visual storytelling, entrepreneurship and digital media.
With more than a decade of experience in photography and filmmaking, Nana 1 has established himself as a freelance photographer and visual storyteller whose work is characterised by cinematic imagery, emotional depth, creativity, elegance and authenticity. His creative practice extends beyond simply documenting people and events; he seeks to preserve experiences, communicate emotions and transform ordinary moments into meaningful visual narratives.
Nana 1’s professional journey reflects an ability to operate across diverse industries while maintaining a consistent commitment to excellence. His experience spans healthcare, photography, filmmaking, entertainment, media production, digital branding, event management, entrepreneurship and youth empowerment.
He currently serves as Chairman of Play Culture Ghana and CEO of Miss Virtuous Ghana (a Christian based beauty pageant), as well as VotePorts, GiVaB Consult, ALSA Foods, TribeGH and ViDiPiXs.
Through these ventures and leadership positions, he continues to explore the intersection of creativity, business, technology, entertainment and social impact.
Between 2017 and 2022, Nana 1 served as President of Ghana Youth Ambassadors, a Christian youth organisation committed to leadership development, spreading the Gospel, supporting the less privileged and empowering young people to become responsible and impactful leaders.
From 2018 to 2024, he served as Vice President of The PATHFINDERS, a Christian young men’s group at the Assemblies of God Church, Anaji, Takoradi, Ghana.
The organisation focuses on mentoring young men and helping them develop integrity, honesty, leadership qualities, responsible fatherhood, career direction, healthy marital values and a deeper understanding of their God given talents and purposes.
His involvement in youth development reflects his broader belief that meaningful leadership is not simply about occupying positions of influence, but about creating opportunities for people to discover their potential and make a positive contribution to society.
From 2021 to 2023, Nana 1 served as Director of the Ghana TikTok Excellence Awards, an initiative established to celebrate and recognise outstanding Ghanaian TikTok creators, digital influencers, entertainers and online personalities.
During his tenure, he contributed to an initiative that recognised the growing influence of digital creators and the rapidly developing online entertainment ecosystem in Ghana.
His involvement further strengthened his connection to Ghana’s emerging digital creative community and reinforced his interest in creating platforms that celebrate talent, innovation and creative expression.
